Following the easing of the lockdown measures announced by the British Government, and having as our main priority the health and safety of our customers and staff, we would like to inform that face to face customer service at the Consulate General of Portugal in Manchester will resume, in a phased manner, from Monday, the 1st of June 2020. The following conditions will apply:
I – PRIOR APPOINTMENTS ARE MANDATORY FOR ALL CONSULAR SERVICES
- All consular service (including the collection of documents) must be pre-booked;
- Appointments must be booked, exclusively, via Portal das Comunidades Portuguesas accessible by clicking HERE.

II – ACCESSING THE FACILITIES OF THE CONSULATE GENERAL
- Access to the premises of the Consulate General is limited to customers with prior appointments;
- ONLY legal guardians and carers will be allowed to accompany those required to carry out the consular service required;
- Face coverings, preferably facemasks, must be worn inside the premises. Social distancing (2m) is mandatory both inside the building and inside the facilities of the Consulate General.
III – OPENING HOURS
The opening hours of the Consulate General of Portugal in Manchester have changed:
Monday - Friday
From 08:15am until 12:30pm and from 2:10pm until 5:15pm
- The Consulate will resume its activities on Saturdays in July. Working Saturdays can be found HERE.
- Opening hours on Saturdays are as follows:
Saturdays from 09:15am until 12:30pm and from 2h10pm until 3:45pm

VI – CONSULAR SERVICES BY POST & ONLINE
There are consular services which can be provided by post, thus foregoing the need to travel to the Consulate General. For more information (in Portuguese), click here.

The Consulate General of Portugal will continue to closely monitor the developments of the current health emergency and any changes to the operating conditions will be published on this webpage, which is recommended to be visited regularly for future updates.
In celebration of Portugal's National Day, Portuguese organist André Ferreira will perform on the Stoller Organ an exclusive programme by Portuguese composers, including Frederico de Freitas and Luís de Freitas Branco.
André Ferreira graduated at the Amsterdam Conservatoire, where he studied under Jacques van Oortmerssen and worked with Pieter van Dijk, and he holds a Masters Degree in Organ Studies by the Lisbon School of Music where he studied with João Vaz. André performs regularly as a soloist and in music ensembles across Europe.
The recital is organised by the Consulate General of Portugal in Manchester in Partnership with Manchester Cathedral, and it is sponsored by the Instituto Camões.
As part of a variety of initiatives developed in order to support the Portuguese Community to prepare for the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union, a new Consular Call Centre for the UK – Brexit Line was launched on 1st April 2019. This centre is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm (UK/Portugal time) and can be contacted on 020 36 36 84 70 or via email@example.com.
From 8th April 2019 to 31st December 2019, opening hours at this Consulate General will be extended as follows:
Monday to Friday, our new service hours are 8.15am to 12.30pm and 2.10pm to 5pm.
We will also be open to the public on the following Saturdays.

Please note that appointments for all consular services listed below continue to be booked online, via Portal das Comunidades Portuguesas:
- Travel authorisation for children;
- Citizen card;
- Residence certificate;
- Document certification;
- Consular registration;
- Signature validation.

On the next Saturday, 11 August, the Star and Shadow Cinema, in Newcastle upon Tyne, will premier Miguel Gonçalves Mendes's new documentary, "O Labirinto da Saudade" (Saudade's Labyrinth) with the support of the Camões Institute and the Consulate-General of Portugal in Manchester.
The session will begin at 18:30 and will be followed by a debate that will feature the director's presence. Tickets can be purchased on the same day.
